We have almost completed the first month of 2019! I hope it’s off to a good start. I am excited to introduce myself as your 2019 MACVB Chair. I have been involved on the Board since 2015 and have served as Public Policy Chair, Vice Chair and look forward to taking on this new role. For the last 13 years I have been the Executive Director of Visit Fairmont, time really does fly when you’re having fun! I live in Fairmont with my family. My husband Trent and I have been married for 12 years and we have three boys. My oldest, Lucas is in first grade at St. Paul Lutheran and loves art, hunting with his Dad, and being a boy! I have a set of twins Jack and Jace who are four years old and started preschool this year. Jack loves picking fights with his brothers, being read to, and reminding his twin brother, he is one minute older! Jace is a free spirit who loves to have fun and reminds us frequently we really shouldn’t take life too seriously. We have two dogs Maggie and Sadie, who nicely complete our circus and help bring female balance to our male dominated household. I have just wrapped up serving as President of the Southern Minnesota Tourism Association and was newly appointed to the EMT Council. I love to travel, spend time with friends and family and enjoy reading when I have the chance.
The Board met in December to discuss our goals and objectives for 2019. We have a fantastic board in place that is diverse and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the table. In 2019, we look forward to continuing to provide bold and thoughtful advocacy on public policy initiatives. Bill Deef our Public Policy Chair along with Todd Hill and Tony Kwilas will work with our Public Policy Committee to support and defend the tourism industry at the capitol. The board will continue to work with staff and the membership to advance the destination marketing industry through education, communication, events and partnerships. In addition, 2019 will bring some new ideas, programs, and projects that we are excited to share with you!
