Greetings! As we roll into 2018, just a quick word of thanks to all who participated in making 2017 a productive year for MACVB. We are an organization on the rise and are excited about 2018.
In this month’s newsletter, I am proud to introduce the 2018 Board of Directors along with our new lobbying team.
Our 2018 Board of Directors brings a powerhouse of experience and enthusiasm for the tourism and destination marketing industry. They include:
-Stephanie Busiahn, Vice Chair, Fairmont
-Nort Johnson, Treasurer, Faribault
-Anna Tanski, Visit Duluth
-Anna Thill, Visit Mankato
-Becky Bakken, Discover St. Louis Park
-Brent Cory, Eagan Convention and Visitor Bureau
-Lisa Peterson, Visit Northfield
-Dave Looby, Past Chair, Minneapolis Northwest
On the legislative front, the 2017 Board of Directors along with Dowell Management strategized about the future and what would best represent MACVB members from a comprehensive perspective. Building from the great work that had been accomplished in the past, a list of new initiatives was developed and an RFP was sent out to key lobbyists.
I am happy to announce that Hill Capitol Strategies, Inc. was selected by the MACVB Board to represent our members and our industry in the 2018 legislative session. Todd Hill and Tony Kwilas will be our lobbying team. They have a solid reputation of representing a variety of clients at the Minnesota legislature. We are happy to have them on board representing MACVB and the tourism industry.

A big “thank you” to Brent Cory, chair of the Silent Auction Committee and a myriad of dedicated MACVB members spearheading the online auction at this year’s EMT Annual Conference in Mankato. Your help is needed in securing items for the auction, please participate.
Items to consider… advertising packages, hotel and resort stays, products, travel vouchers, gift baskets, memberships, etc. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and is vital in providing the legislative, education and networking events our organization is known for. To submit donations, please complete the donation form and email back to us by February 19.

I encourage you to be involved in MACVB, your membership association that is committed to supporting the tourism and convention efforts in Minnesota. You’ll come away with new insights, new connections and new ideas! Some opportunities to consider:
-General Membership Meeting from 3:30-5:00 PM on Monday, March 5th at the EMT Conference in Mankato
-Annual Education Summit , June 5-6 (hosted by Alexandria CVB)
-Annual Meeting, October 2-3 (location TBD)
-Participate on the Education Committee.
