April 2019

Travel Matters

This is the theme for National Travel and Tourism Week, May 5 – 11.  This annual tradition for the U.S. travel community is an opportunity for travel and tourism professionals to share our stories and show the value travel holds for our economy, businesses and quality of life.  I would encourage you to utilize this time before our peak season gets underway to drill down locally and share your message.  Use this week to toot your own horn, something we don’t do nearly as much as we should and tell your community what you do.  Talk about the economic impact travel and tourism has on your local economy.  Tell them about the activities, events and attractions you are promoting and what markets you’re promoting them in.  Be loud and be proud!

I think we can also utilize this week to celebrate and strengthen our industry.  I am so proud to be a part of this industry that works together, supports each other, and encourages each other.  In listening to ways in which we can support our industry colleagues, MACVB is conducting a Compensation and Benefits survey of our membership.  This is an area that we’ve received numerous questions about and requests for resources to help guide and assist our members and their Board of Directors.  Full participation from our membership is necessary.  Please take the time to complete the survey by April 30 to help support your industry and your colleagues.

MACVB is committed to advocating and advancing Minnesota’s destination marketing industry.  We are here to help grow, build, and strengthen our industry and the people who make it the amazing industry that it is.  Remember to tell your story, be loud and be proud!   Support your colleagues; complete the survey to help us build our resources to assist each other.  Celebrate this impactful industry by participating in “Travel Matters”!   To learn more about National Travel and Tourism Week including a tool kit provided to help you promote our industry, visit U.S. Travel Association.
